Gin & Whores March 2008
I had a party and it was amazing! There were too many people there to name check you all but THANK YOU to everyone who was there as it was just brilliant and I had such a great time and I hope you had a great time too. Especial big thank you to Tom and Alison for being such wonderful hosts and for the excellent and highly restorative breakfast. :)
Anyway, start at the beginning! The drive to London was rather fraught due to the SatNav leading us through Piccadilly Circus, much to the atheist's chagrin and me developing a head ache. Felt much better once we got to Tom and Alison's flat, where we enjoyed some splendid chat and then got ready to go out. The outfit that I had planned to wear made me look really uncomfortable and enormous as my bump is much bigger than I had realised so I had to forgo looking Victorian for the evening. Ah well. :)
Got to the Prince Alfred pub after only a few of the guests this time and were welcomed at the door by Jozafeen and David who both looked wonderful. Tish was there! And people! Handed over my ipod with the playlist of doom and proceeded to worry for the next hour about no one turning up, which turned out to be silly because LOADS of people turned up! I spent a lot of time with Tish, which was fabulous as we haven't seen each other since October 2003, when she and Ben Moopet very kindly put me on a train to Nottingham and I have missed her so much since then. I finally know what people mean when they talk about not seeing friends for years and then feeling like they haven't had any time apart. :)
Anyway, spent an amazing evening wandering about and catching up with some of the possibly most fabulous people on the planet, while in the distance there was the thrilling occasional pop of champagne corks. I am so lucky to have such fantastic friends - so many people came up to me last night and commented on how great it all was and how nice it was to go to a party for once where there was no drama at all and everyone was lovely and friendly and nice. 'A non existent fuckwit quota' is how someone put it. :)
Despite not having any alcohol I still managed to talk absolute bollocks, which I do apologise for but I was not nearly so meandering as Wardytron, who was an absolute delight as usual although he did feel compelled to point out that he was not a performing seal and also tried to persuade me to exhume Lady Diane of Love's corpse so that he could do star jumps again with the ease of a practised acrobat.
Got to spend time with so many people I absolutely adore and I got to meet Jozafeen's very, very lovely Young Man. :)
And apparently someone asked the atheist if the ipod belonged to nils! I am absurdly flattered. See, my taste in music isn't that bad after all! :)
Must stop rambling now, but I haven't stopped smiling since. Wow. It was great. And Rosamicula won the prize for Most Whorish.
I spoke to the pub owner before I left and he and the bar staff absolutely loved us all by the way and were so pleased when I passed on some of the compliments that people had been showering on their general amazingness and how lovely the venue was. Anyway, they have said that we are more than welcome to come back again for the next one, which we definitely shall because there WILL be a next one, oh yes. :)
